Production of dies and punches
Production of dies and punches is the core business of our company. The process of pressing and stamping of various materials requires the use of special high-strength punches. These products are often used to mark equipment components during material processing or stamping.
You can order production of punches and dies by sending drawings to info@yizemould.com. We guarantee high quality and favorable prices!
For quality stamping or marking of an assembly, sufficient pressure must be provided. The punch has been designed for this purpose and its design can vary.
Work of a punch in a mechanical process
For proper functioning of the punching die, the workpiece must enter the die with a certain gap. The gap must be uniform around the entire perimeter of the die working contour and have a minimum deviation not exceeding one hundredth of a millimeter.
The thinner the sheet from which the workpiece is created, the smaller the gap must be. Consequently, the dimensions of the profile of the metal product will be smaller than the dimensions of the die profile by the amount of the permissible gap. Usually, the working contour of one of the mating parts (punch or die) is produced with high precision, and the dimensions of the second part are adjusted to the first one, taking into account the required gap.
The one of the two mating parts whose properties are the most technologically advanced is machined first. The profile fitting procedure (sometimes referred to as die setting) is performed using a simple locksmith's method.
Punches and dies
Modern high-precision products - dies and punches - are multifunctional metal products actively used in the creation of various metal structures and molds.
Punch as an important working element
A punch is a key tool used for marking, pressing and stamping materials in the metalworking process. It exerts considerable pressure on the workpiece, thereby machining the material. The punch is divided into several types depending on the application:
- Punch punches
- Punching products
- Cutting punches
- Stitching parts
The production of metal structures is a complex technological process. Therefore, punches are subjected to various mechanical, thermal and force loads during the manufacturing process, which determines the type of material used for their production.
Workflow for manufacturing dies and punches
Punches are often used in the role of a press, extruding the desired shape of a workpiece under pressure through a die. This technological process requires state-of-the-art equipment and experienced professionals. In hot shops, under the influence of temperature, the pressure process is carried out, which leads to the creation of blanks. Therefore, a variety of alloys with certain technical and performance characteristics are used for production.
Products manufactured in cold shops are made of high-strength steel with a hardening level of at least 53-67 HRC. Tool steel 6xB2-C is also used in production. All materials selected for the production of dies and punches must be high-strength, reliable and certified. We use only quality alloy steels, as frequent exposure to high temperatures makes the metal brittle and wear out.
Manufacturing of metal products in hot shops requires the use of punches made of high-quality rolled metal with high strength and wear resistance, capable of withstanding heavy mechanical loads.
Application of punches and dies
When assembling stamping devices, the punch design must necessarily coincide with the cutting edge of the die. This means that this type of metal product is the final assembly that creates the upper part of the workpiece. A set of punches is a small press designed for high-quality marking or stamping of products at different angles. With the help of this device, it is possible to produce blanks of any size, as well as to mark them, making them mirror or regular.
Punch sets are used in metalworking plants and enterprises where pressing of metal blanks or production of sheet metal parts is often practiced. In construction, these products are used to produce blocks with different sized voids.
Main purposes of matrices
For quality production of blanks, a die is required, which can be made of the following materials:
- High quality polyurethane
- Various alloys and metals
- Rubbers
The matrix for manufacturing a metal part must be made of strong specialized steel with high wear resistance properties and equipped with special walls. Matrices are of different types:
- Simple
- Complex
- Universal
Materials used for production of dies and punches
The main task of the punch is to press the workpiece through the die under high pressure. In hot-rolled pressing, the workpiece is exposed to high temperatures. Therefore, a variety of materials are used to make dies. Cold pressed products are created from high-strength materials characterized by a high degree of hardening. Materials for the production of punches and dies must meet the following characteristics:
- High strength
- Excellent durability
- Corrosion resistance
Alloy steel becomes brittle at high temperatures, so each punch must have high hardness throughout its entire height.
